What does it mean to actually learn from your life?
Most of us move fast, accomplish a lot, and still reach the end of each year feeling like we can't quite account for where the time went. The lessons we lived through fade. The patterns we swore we'd break show up again. And the version of ourselves we were working toward stays just out of reach.
Life in Perspective gives you a way out of that cycle. At the heart of the book is the ARC Method, a three-stage annual review process Tiago has refined over 15 years and taught to over 1,000 students worldwide.
- Appreciate the past by gathering vivid, specific memories of what went well and what you're grateful for.
- Reflect on the present to find the patterns and insights that reveal what you've learned and what matters most.
- Create the future by turning those discoveries into an intentional vision for what comes next.
Life in Perspective challenges the way most people think about reflection. You won't dissect your year like a spreadsheet or write vague resolutions you'll abandon by February.
Instead, you'll work with real artifacts from your life, follow the signals your emotions are already giving you, and build a practice that feels less like a performance review and more like a conversation with someone who knows you well.
If you've ever felt like you're moving fast but not sure you're going in the right direction, this book is for you.
Answers to Your Frequently Asked Questions
What is an annual review?
An annual review is a structured practice of reflecting on the past year, understanding the present, and intentionally shaping the future. Think of it as a deep life review, not a performance evaluation.
How is this different from Building a Second Brain and The PARA Method?
While Building a Second Brain and The PARA Method focus on organizing external knowledge and projects, Life in Perspective is about internal reflection and making sense of your life experiences. It's the vital connection between what you know and who you are becoming.
I have taken the Annual Review course. Is this the same content?
Not exactly. While the book covers the same core ARC Method, it goes much deeper into the philosophy, science, and personal stories behind the practice. It also introduces new concepts and practices that weren't part of the course. Think of the book as the definitive, expanded guide that gives you a richer understanding of why and how the process works, plus new tools to take your practice further.
Do I need to have read Tiago's other books first?
No. Life in Perspective is a completely standalone book. Whether you're brand new to Tiago's work or a longtime reader, this book will meet you where you are.
